About our project:
Rainbow Roller Rink operates in two locations: one in Lockport, NY, and one in North Tonawanda, NY. Both of these rinks offer birthday and private party services, with many of the customers booking more than one party. As it currently stands, the way that the company files and manages the records for these parties and customers takes a lot of time. Everything is filed away in manila folders and filing cabinets. Retrieving the information is a tedious and time consuming task, and it is made more difficult with each employee being able to work at both locations.
The main objective of creating this database was to make keeping track of everything within the company easier and more efficient. We decided to put all of the customer's information, as well as their reservation information, into the database so that all of the information was in one easy to find location. We also chose to put the employee information into the database as well. This allows us to see who is available to work during a party, and who is already scheduled to work. This will help to avoid scheduling conflicts that would occasionally occur with the old system. Our main goal with this database was to make everyday tasks more efficient for everyone. Now everything can be stored in one place that can be easily accessed, instead of searching through a filing cabinet. This database accomplishes what we wanted it to, and can be immediately implemented at Rainbow Skateland and provide business value.
